Labor Day 2023 Group Camping Trip

Join Elke and I at one of our favorite dispersed campsites less than 1.5 hours from Denver. The owner Debbie’s family homesteaded this land in the early 1900’s and her hosting campers has allowed her to pay to keep the land, her llamas, and her friendly pack of great pyrenees.

There is a lot to do in the area including Buffalo Creek for the MTB folks, Wellington Lake, hiking and my favorite, walking the property with her dogs and the donkey.

Campers, RVs and tent camping are all welcome. If you want to be a bivy-taco, for the bears go for it.

RSVP by August 23
You must RSVP and have paid by August 23rd to attend. Thank you

Venmo me for the amount you owe with a note of how many people for how many days.

No Venmo? I still need RSVP and payment by the 23rd.

Our campsite is quiet, secluded and can easily handle as many people that show up, invite your friends and family. The roads getting there are dirt and not maintained. They have not been too much trouble any time that we have gone.

The map below displays the location, and I’ll send directions including how to access the property closer to the trip. Debbie always sends me the best route a few days before. Trust GPS to your own peril.

Pitching In

Schema

  • We will have a common area to share food and drink all weekend.
  • Every family bring some firewood to share
  • Shelters, tables, games? Bring ’em

  • Practice Fire Safety

Dogs

We absolutely adore pups, but we kindly request that only well-behaved dogs join us, please. There are free roaming llamas, donkey and working dogs and wildlife on the property. They will visit us. That is part of what makes this place special. Off leash dogs are fine if under voice command but need to be leashed when out of our campsite. We don’t want anyone to feel they can’t attend because of this so please talk to us and and we’ll find a solution together to ensure everyone’s comfort and enjoyment.

Children

Understanding the needs of parents, we want to extend a warm welcome to children. To create an atmosphere where everyone can fully enjoy the occasion, we kindly ask parents to take the lead in ensuring their little ones engage in respectful and considerate conduct. There will likely be some adult conversation, language, and even a few playful antics sprinkled throughout the event. Your support in guiding your children’s behavior will significantly contribute to a positive vibe for all attendees. Those without children will be respectful of their presence and we ask the same in return. Thank you for embracing your role in fostering a fantastic experience!
